Krabi is in the south of Thailand and is part of the main land but is surrounded by some extremely pictureque islands such as Koh Lanta, Phi Phi and further across, Phuket.

Krabi is a very pleasant place to stay although for the "getting away from it all" factor, choose to go to one of the surrounding islands. Getting to these islands invloves getting a small speed boat or long tail boat. The journey time will vary and can be a bit bumpy, but it's all worth it as you pass by some pristine islands with the whitest of sands and untouched beaches.

There are a number of hotels around the Ao Nang area of the mainland. There are a number of 5 star hotels in this area. It's a nice place to stay with good beaches and plenty of entertainment in the evenings.
